Bencubbin City - Orientations

The Bencubbin occupies around one-fifth of the original O’Neil habitat section (The one nearest to the actual asteroid 129 Antigone). The rest of the space is reserved with vegetation mainly genetically engineered pine trees grown for pulp feed-stock and this section is owned by the Haverel Corporation. Electric fences prevent the inhabitants of Bencubbin City from stealing the trees. As the engineered trees prefer low light conditions, the inhabitants of the Bencubbin have to suffer perpetual half-light and damp conditions.

Nine Sectors of Trouble

Imagine a city strictly divided into sections. Oh, wait for it, that's just like a typical Earth city. Actually, no it's not these sections have checkpoints operated by the authorities as a means to try and reduce the crime. It's not working of course, but it does upset the inhabitants. As space is limited, there is a large number of tall buildings making narrow dark spaces and few open spaces.

Welcome to the Bencubbin!

The Orcus

This is one of the better areas of the Bencubbin, with some low rise larger plots. This area is occupied by those at the top of the Bencubbin social strata. There are even a few trees and a small park.

The Widmanstaten

This is a mid spinward district of small service businesses and light industry. It is also the heart of the tayloring industry. The forward anti-spinward section is the demise of the RCBS and GANDER.
