Low-ranking crew member on the cargo ship Standing Bridge, and brother to ALICE HELIGELIEN, his only living relative. ANDREW is slightly mentally impaired but is determined to live his best life independently. He loves animals, and his living quarters are frequently tossed by his long-suffering senior officers in search of the latest little beasties he’s managed to collect and squirrel away. To people not immediately aware of his impairment, he appears to be sweet and extremely naive. Unfortunately, society is often unkind to the mentally impaired and ANDREW has few friends looking out for his best interests. During shore leave in the Ben Cubbin, ANDREW disappears.
